Part 18: Photo Woe
Puzzles Remix3. Search for a hole that leads to an odd number of separate routes.
If you think about it, we've seen this puzzle already. Remember the bridge puzzle from the DLC a short while back? Yeah, it's the exact same thing in practice.
...Oh, and no, these aren't the wrong images here. Despite the scene making this Luke's thing to do, Layton gets credit. I really do just imagine these things as him being unable to stop himself and just spoiling the answer.
Um, Luke you... never mind.
3. If you're still having trouble, you should know that the single line you need to draw is a circle. The only remaining question is where to place it so that the two pieces of the plaza have the same shape and are directly proportional to one another.
So, my issue with this puzzle is honestly really simple. You don't have to be super-perfect with either how the shape is drawn, but you do have to be bizarrely precise to get credit for it. I feel like about half of it has to cross the exact right spot and the rest needs to be very close too but maybe I'm just bad at eyeballing this kinda thing.
I still got it in one shot anyway, this time, so it's not too big a deal at least.
Take it from someone who's seen it all: stay away from the forest to the north-west of town.
1. Rotate each shape 90 degrees to get a fresh perspective on the puzzle.
2. If you look closely, you might notice that there's a number visible within each of the shapes.
3. Once you rotate the shapes, you'll be able to see a number hidden within them.
I hate to burst your bubble, but if your lead on this Elysian Box led you here, you may be out of luck.
It all started over a strange rumour that spread through the town like wildfire.
Ah, so even if we are in the right place, there may be no one left to ask.
Tell me, what was this rumour?
Some silly thing about a curse... I'm not entirely sure what it was, to be honest.
But I often find myself wondering where all those people who left Folsense ended up.
I don't think anyone noticed the one in the top-right here and it is kind of tricky to see at first. Then it becomes super obvious: the garlic cloves there are mirrored from the source image. Feel free to go back and look at it again if you want.
3. Hint Two had the idea of weighing all the bags at once. There are 10 10-unit coins in each of the five bags, for a total of 500 units. But one bag contains fake coins, so the weight is actually less than that. Perhaps the key to solving this really is to weigh all the bags at once, in a sense?
It's kind of annoying that the "solution" to this puzzle requires you to make a leap and assume you can do things that there are zero hints in the puzzle for.
Y'know, I think there's only like a tiny handful of lines for post-hidden puzzle dialogue. I might be misremembering though.
2. You need to find a place where the tower's top can't be seen. To put it another way, you're looking for a place that doesn't allow you to see the outside of the tower.
3. There's one indoor location from which you definitely won't be able to see the outside of the tower.

So, Chelmey here IS a puzzle gate but it's for 50 puzzles. We've gotten 75 done at this point so, uh, yeah they're never an issue. Like, ever.

It sure doesn't feel it, but we're actually a fair bit closer to the end than the chapter's number and title implies. Pacing is yet another thing this game kind of doesn't get.
What it does get, at least, is that Barton is a new addition that is cool. I like Barton. Let's start with him so we can keep the left-to-right pattern consistent.

Inspector Chelmer had an, um, altercation with a canine by a path to the north-east corner of town.
Well, dogs can sniff out mean people, you know. That's just more proof that he needs to be nicer!
He may seem a bit prickly at times, but he's actually quite kind.
Having said that, this story I heard about him concern one of his less friendly episodes.

1. The inspector says he took one turn on a block with a cafe, but that doesn't mean he had to turn in the the direction of the cafe he saw. Instead, what he's essentially saying here is that he was only able to turn once at any intersection with a cafe.
1. If one of the bobbies had said he turned a total of 1,000 times during the course of his investigation, the inspector would have no reason to doubt the bobby was telling the truth.
2. With U-turns forbidden, there's a certain logic you should be able to find in all this confusion.
1. Gold ore is worth a whopping five tiems as much as copper, so focus on claiming some of that. Wouldn't it be great if you could find a five-square plot of land with two pieces of gold ore on it? Sadly, that doesn't seem likely.
2. Unfortunately, no single five-square plot of land contains two pieces of gold ore. However, you just might be able to find a plot that has two pieces of silver ore, remember, your first priority is choosing the plot with the highest total value.
1. Since the stones are of the same size and feel, there is absolutely no way to tell them apart while removing them.
2. The best chance you'll have at pocketing those coins is just around 50%. There's no way of ensuring you'll win the coins.
1. Start by figuring out how old the girl was back when the boy was as old as the girl is now. What relationship does the girl's past age have with the boy's current age?
I... really dislike this puzzle. It's just so awfully worded that it's kind of terrible nonsense until you parse what the heck is being said.
1. Fold creatively and copy two pages at a time.
2. Just because a crease makes the menu sit one way doesn't mean you can't fold along that line in the other direction.
1. Think you've found the answer? You're sure? Well, just to be safe, compare its outline to the ghosts one more time. Don't forget to look at little details, like the shape of its hands.
1. There's no need to do any complicated calculations. The same horses compete several times, and since a tie means the teams are equal, think about what might happen with different matchups.
1. First count out how many sweets you have. There are five pieces of three types of candy and 10 pieces of a fourth type. You have to put two pieces of this fourth type of candy into each of the five portions.
1. Use the Memo function to trace which openings in the container lead to the garlic bulbs!
Whew, that's a lot of puzzles at once huh? Hopefully it's not too many.
